Okay,

Everyone with kit trouble continuing - We are all going to meet up after the Tuesday (13th Nov) theory session in the lecture room. Make sure you bring the items in question and we will do swaps where appropriate and make arrangements with Bristol Channel Divers where we can't make swaps. I know BCD have been a bit awkward helping you out so hopefully this will sort it out once and for all.

1. THE CHRISTMAS MEAL *********************************************

Hey guys,

Due to diver demand, the date of the Christmas meal at Racks has had to be changed. I'm just waiting for them to get back to me, but it looks as if the date shall be either Friday the 30th of Nov or Sat the 1st of December so pencil in the dates for your diaries! Apologies for any inconvenience.

TRIP REPORTS:

1. VOBSTER SPORTS DIVER TRAINING 3RD NOVEMBER **********************

Date: 3rd November 2007
Place: Vobster Quarry
Divers: Dougal, Andy K, Piers, Dougal, , Craig, Mette, Michela, Tom, Becky S, Andy S, Jess and Helen)


Eleven divers headed down to Vobster quarry on a sunny, early Saturday morning intent on signing off as much Sports Diver as possible. Despite a couple of divers getting lost on the way (and they had GPS) everyone found the site and got quickly kitted up and started the dives.

Andy did some compass and distance line exercises with Jess and Helen and after unintentionally discovering a deeper part of the quarry managed to sign off lots of assesements. Meanwhile Dougal went diving with Michaela,Andy S, Mette & Craig and managed to asses Andy S with his sports diver tow. Piers went diving with Tom and Becky and signed off lots of skills including smb, distance line and compass work.

The site was perfect for assesing these skills as there's plenty of large features like planes and boats to navigate round and attach lines too. All in all it was a great training trip with 4 newly qualified and happy sports divers and the instructors even managed to fit a cheeky dive in for themselves at the end.

Thanks to everyone who helped and hopefully it will be the first of more training trips to come.
