Washing down kit after use

Washing kit

1. Start by rinsing with a hose.

 2. Wash the regs. Keep the air switched on and gentle purge. This ensures that both sides of both diaphrams are washed with fresh water.

Purging regs

3. Turn the air off, purge the regs (pressing the purge button on either reg slowly and holding for 5 seconds). Unscrew the A-Clamp. If there is any resistance, it usually means you have not purged correctly. If you force the A-clamp off you will hear a loud bang which is the o-ring be damaged! Next, dry the a-clamp cap. This is easy to do with a blast of air. Make sure the water drops being blown away do not go anywhere near the 1st stage's air inlet hole. You could cover this with a finger.

Unscrewing A-Clamp

4. Put the A-clamp cover back up and screw the a-clamp down to hold it on.

Cover A-clamp

5. If you are using a STAB (jacket type BC [buoyancy compensator]), hold the inflation hose straight up. Press the deflate button and fill with water with the hose. Most of the water from the hose should be going into the STAB, if water is spraying all over the place, you are doing something wrong. Try holding the inflation hose straighter and pushing the hose end further in.

Draining BC

6. Remove the STAB from the cylinder and hold upside down. Press the deflation button to drain the water out.

Hanging BC

7. Use the waist strap to hang the STAB. This will make the inflation hose the lowest point so that any remaining water will drain to the bottom of the hose. Do not use the chest strap or the shoulders.

 8. Cylinders go in the "empty" marked area on the floor. Regs are hung up using the number on the base of the first stage. Ignor the number on the A-Clamp. All 'numbers' are prefixed with the letter 'S', don't let this confuse you!
